What Are The Pictures

I have asked a group people about my film, one of the percipients said, "whats is with all the pictures at the beginning of the film, about the pictures above the assassin bed", so i said "They was going to be about the assassin him self". They thought they would be his targets or something. I thought about this and tried to interpret this into my film.
I think this would help my film flow better and make more sense and have a conclusion at the end, about all the people i have killed and why they are pictures about me. I noticed that target is in some of the pictures.  For example
This picture is one my wall. If i was going to make a full feature length film, i would have a made a mind map with lodes of different images and string attaching each image with writing.

This would join up with the story. At the end of the film i would do a conciliation.

This is a screen shot of were the image appears up in my project.

Who I Am

I am Patrick Benbow, My candidate number is 6014. I am studying at Marlwood School.
I have done my process in this blog Process.
I have done all my work my self and edited my whole film my self, each blog post is written personally by me.

Thank you for looking at my blog and I hope you have a enjoy looking at my blog.

         Yours Faithfully
                  Patrick Benbow

Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Looking back on my preliminary task I haven’t taken much from filming, but the thing I have learned was how to use the different software. A new skill I have learned is how to use a Mac computer. When filming my preliminary task I did not do much preparation and more go out and film. I did not make a storyboard or plan out my script.
The skills I have learned are how to use a Mac computer and how to use iMovie. This was a key skill for making my final project, if I did not have a go at doing my preliminary task I would have struggled to make my final project as good as it is, it would of taken me longer to make and I would not have as many different affects in my final project. I got to know what angles work well and how to transfer film from the camera; this was a vital skill to make my film.
I did not use any shots used in the preliminary task in my final project but I learned how to use the 180-degree rule. I would of placed this into my final piece but it wasn’t needed. If I did add dialect in my film, when I was getting around the museum, I would have added this rule.

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I would like Lionsgate or Universal Pictures to distribute my film. Liongate take chances on films and they make them a success. They are one of the biggest film distribution companies in the world.  They have a total asset 1.5 billion dollars; this was at the end of 2011.
Or I would like Universal Pictures to distribute my film because, they are one of the world biggest again but they product film that go main stream. They have produced a similar film “wanted” that made Opening Weekend $50,927,085 (USA) (29 June 2008) (3,175 Screens) £3,814,055 (UK) (29 June 2008) (412 Screens) I would like my film to have the same success. Universal are part of General electric so they can produce DVD’s cheap so this would help make my move a big hit so the public can buy it on DVD if they did not get a chance to watch it at a cinema.
I would like my film to go to cinemas internationally then onto DVD. I would not make a sound track on CD but I would like to be sold on ITunes only so ITunes had acclivity. People hardly buy CDs any more.
This is why I think these would be the right institutions to distribute my film. Each film company can help me in different ways.

How did you attract/address your audience?

The way I thought about attracting my audience is the actor’s I have used. There is a half naked male figure, which would attract the females. This makes it can male it aright for females to go the cinema with their other half to watch the film because there is something for both genders.
Set and location: I chosen the location to be my house, which and filmed it in my bedroom, which most people would spend their time, many people would not like other people to see their room because they are personal to you their your own individualism. I choses the Bristol museum because I know the people that work their, and it a land mark for Bristol, Bristol has lots of history so I have interpreted this, for people that don’t live in Bristol, which they have visited they would recognize the building and that the people who live in Bristol would be proud of the location.
There is no nudity in my film or sex, so you can watch this with your parents with out being embarrassed and wanting to leave the room. This fits in with my target audience, people aged between 15- 25
Killing, unfortunately killing people is a big seller in this genre and what would a assassin do if he did not kill anyone. If I have made a film on assassins, their job is to kill people for money; I needed to include a killing in my film.
I address the audience at the end of my film with a rhetorical question. When will your number come up? This makes the audience think, I could be next.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Gender:  The Main character (protagonist), Mr. Yong (Patrick Benbow) is portrayed through a mixture of different identities. At the start of my film, the protagonist is a normal teenager/young man, has a good social life, he like to keep fit and he is disciplined, he also like to keep tidy, this is show with the following.
·      He has his own person picture in his room above his bed. This gives an inside into his life with out giving the plot away.
·      When he wakes up, he does a fitness work out. This shows he is disciplined and likes to keep fit.
·      He keeps tidy, this is shown at the begin showing his desk with lots off different objects and technology all neatly placed and organized.

When the he gets the assailment, I think the people were shocked, they were thinking, “he is a just a normal person, I am just like him”. They are shocked, got to know him, thought he was a nice person, but nope, he has a good cover up to his life. I chosen the protagonist to be male because, if u read what I would of liked to do if I had more time and the films were allowed to be longer I was going a have a woman running this whole operation. I shoot a target that is male but a woman picks up the package and does the simple job. Even in real life, hustlers use attractive woman to distract men so they can do their job. This is why I wanted to have a woman running the operation.
There are films with female assassins in for example “wanted”, but she was one of the main charters, but there was a man who she trains up. But there is films that are fully about female assassins “tomb raider” you could says this is a female assassin, but more of a explorer, but she does do a lot of killing to get to her prize. Both of these films include the same actor Angelina Jolie, but one film with Angelina again, is “Salt” She plays a woman called Evelyn Salt, Evelyn is a CIA agent.
She is a well know good actor well loved by the public for her good looks and acting, and her marriages with one of the Worlds best looking men in the world. But there is other female assassin film with out Angelina, Such as “Kill Bill”.

Age: The age representation I was trying to get across was, that, young people are the people who are going to be in power, we are going to be the future and we are the next generation. We are the new people that are going to be your good people, and bad people; there will be people who would do things for money or something they want.
All the characters in my film are 16/17, I choses this age range because, I know people and what their skill are, I did not want a older person to act in my film because, I don’t know many older people, and I can use my close friends who do acting for GCSE. Older people have more responsibility and have jobs, so if I needed to films some more or change something in the film, they are more likely to be free to help when needed.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

During the creation of making my media project (Film) I Have leant a great deal about technologies used in the film industry, how new technology has influenced the film industry and how simple it is to make a film yourself, how people can create their own projects. How this new technology is cheap to buy and make your own film. When I made my film I used free software that comes with each mac computer, this is called iMovie, this is a simple film editing software.
To make my full project I use all these technologies, which are the following.
·      SLR Digital HD Video Camera – Film my project.
·      Scanner - Scan in my stories boards.
·      iMovie - Edit my film.
·      Macintosh Computer- Search the Internet, get information, edit my film and post on my blog.
·      Safari- To gets on my blog and search the internet.
·      YouTube- Upload my videos to show how I have progressed in my films project.
·      www.blogger.com - Make a blog to show my presses.
·      iDVD – I would not of been able to make a DVD to hand around and sell to the public.
If it wasn’t for these different technologies my film would of turned out differently.
I would not of been able to make my film as well as well as it has gone. My film would have been made differently and I would of missed out certain parts I would of liked to add. For example I would not of been able to make the sniper scope scene on Windows moviemaker or low quality movie editing software, this is why I used iMovie, this is free software but you technically pay for it with the price of the Macintosh computer it self, these computer start from a steep price of £1000 minimum.
The way I have processed the information to show my progress would have been hand written.
If I did not have a scanner, I would of had to make a computer generate images. I perfected to make my own hand drawn. I am not a artist, but it is more your own idea if you draw them your self and you can make anything you want, if it was computer generated you would louse some of your free dome.
I did not use a HD video camera, the video quality would have been bad.
If it wasn’t for YouTube I would not of been able to upload my project, and show how I have improved. I uploaded my movies to my blog and YouTube, to show what I have changed, this make it obvious and clear.

Who would be the audience for your media product?

My target audience is aged between 15-25 but I asked everyone about my film, even people out of my target audience. I asked them what they thought of my film, their opinion was, “it is really good”, but being honest, that is not much help to me.
But some people did give criticism feed back. I taken this feedback on bored, or tried to add it or edit my film so more people would like it.
The thing that came up most was how quite the film is, they say I need more dialect, this was from people in my target group 15-25. But when I asked older people, they say, I like how there is not too much dialect or music running throughout the whole film. In the end I chosen to keep it simple, and have music throughout out the beginning, and only have dialect when he is receiving the Skype call. When he on the roof, I thought it would be less intimidating if he dint not do any dialect throughout the shooting. I could have spoken to some one in the museum workers; this would have added some dialect to my film.
The reason why I have chosen the age group 15-25 is because I am a young man my self, I know what young people would like to see in a film. This target audience is the most lightly people to go to the cinema; they are the new generation so they will influence how new media is interpreted.
The only down side to choosing this target audience is that there is so many film that are designed for this age group, and young people don’t have lots of money and they have even less chance to get jobs so they might only go to the movies once a mouth and only watch one films, there is such a massive choice to pick from. I think my film would sell more to male audience. They would watch this film when they are out and about, cinemas sell alcohol so this is a new social place to meet and have a few drinks before going out.

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

My media products use, develop and challenge the forms and convert ions of real media products. I did this by watching lots of different movies that include assassins in, I look at how they open up, how they get you interested, how they give you a first kill quickly, get the adrenaline pumping, get your pumped up for the action, this is a quick kill to get you in the mood for the film.
I Spent time watching lodes of different old and short film online, on media websites such as YouTube, I've noticed, their is mainly 1-3 characters in the short films. With my film, I have only shown one protagonist, this is the main person through out the start of my film. When I killed the target, I played the titles, this happens mainly in horror films, at the start, this is to get you pumped up and ready then making think something going to happen, but the titles come up. I thought this would be a good ending for my film because the audience is pumped and ready for the film to kick off. The audience in my film gets to know the protagonist because you see a inside into his life at the start. This is what they did in the film “Wanted” you see the protagonist life, what he does for a living at his work place. This gave me the idea for the beginning of my film.

How my movie has improved

This how the 1st part of my movie was going to originally be. First Attempt
This is how i improved it from this level.Second Attempt
This is how it looks now, after multiple editing and asking people what to change and applying it to get my final project. BINGO

Why I Picked This Shot

Their is one shot that that is in my film which I am really proud of, this is because it has an psychological affect to the viewer. When I am walking into the museum, this is a "Ant" on the door of the museum, As this screen shot show.

I wasn't going to show the protagonist walking through the door.
This adds mystery and gives the pice a face. This is like giving the audience a clue that something bad is going to happen. The colour red indicates and the way that the Ant is looking at you, like it going to kill.

This is the protagonist walking around on the roof, he is walking to find his gun.

This is the protagonist picking up his gun.

This is the protagonist walking over to were he is going to set up.

This is the protagonist setting up the gun for the shot.

This is the protagonist looking for his target.

This is the view that the protagonist  would of seen when he was looking down he scope this is the protagonist POV. The woman on the phone, is behind him, this makes sure he is the target.

This is a vie of the protagonist  if some one was looking at him. This re echoers the audience that the protagonist  is their.

This is a more head on shot on the target, he as lined up his shot, and will take the shot, if everything is clear.

This is the protagonist about to shoot his target.

I have added a slight affect to make it look like a bullet was coming out of the gun. I did not shoot any animation when filming my project.

The protagonist is pulling down his gun, and about to make his escape before he is caught.

This is his target on the floor, mission accomplished.

Annotate Part Two Of My Film

The protagonist used the computer. You see the protagonist POV. To get this affect I used a screen shot affect.

This is the protagonist login into his email account. The email gives away a little about the film. I have speeded up the typing but not to fast because it would look unnatural. I typed it slow because I did not want to get the email wrong. I made 2 email accounts to do this scene.

Their is a message saying to turn on Skype.
The reason why I made 2 email is because I wanted the User name to say Unknown user as the name. I tried sending a email from my home account, it said my name (Patrick Benbow) sent the email.

After reading the email, I go back to the home screen. I click on Skype. I am using a Mac computer this is why the home page is laid out like this.

When the Skype lodes up, i have added a transition. I had also added a sound affect. The sound affects is from the iLife sound affects. The sound in called communication static.

This is the Skype call. I had screen recored a Skype call and added a sound file, this is because i wanted clear sound and no back ground noise.

This clip is sped up, but the protagonist will walk down the street. This sets the Mese-en-scene.

This is the protagonist walking into the Bristol museum and art gallery. This shows he is inside, this could give publicity and get tourists into Bristol.

This is inside the Bristol museum. Their is a dinosaur skeleton. This helps with the Mese-en-scean.

The protagonist is walking through a door inside the museum, this is a door which says private on.

This is the private sign on the door

This is the view from behind the door, This door is usual locked, but they have opened it for me.

The protagonist is quickly breaking through another door which is not in view of the camera.

This is the door which i break through. This is 1 second after the last camera view.

The protagonist bursts throughout the door. I have enhanced the sound, so it makes it should like I've just broke the lock.

This is the protagonist putting on some safety equipment, I have placed this on the shelf ready for for to put it on. The protagonist puts this clothing on because it a disguise so he looks like a builder.

This protagonist entering the code for the alarm system.

This is the protagonist climbing up the stares, he is on his way to the roof top to do his job.

The protagonist is getting out his pick lock set to pick the lock to get out onto the roof.

This is a close up on the protagonist picking the lock. I have placed the camera and the lock to make it look like I actually was picking the lock.

I turn the lock around to make it look like i have picked it personally, and to show that the lock has been picked.

This is a long shot on the protagonist is of him flicking up the lock.

This is the protagonist walking out of the door onto the roof.
